God doesn’t change anything in us without our effort.
This does NOT mean we are trying to earn God’s favor. And this does NOT mean God’s work is less important than ours. Far from it. But it does mean that our obedience and the effort required is part of the heart-shaping process God uses. In fact, our obedience is evidence of the new life of God flowing in and through our lives.
