This past Sunday we celebrated Pentecost Sunday. You can read in Acts chapter two more about the sending of the Holy Spirit upon those who believed. In short, the amazing gift of the Holy Spirit brought 3,000 people from all over the ancient world to saving faith in Jesus Christ and created the church! Pentecost is the birthday of God’s church upon the earth. That is a fact, and a result – but the most amazing thing is the presence of God in the person of the Holy Spirit being “poured out” as the prophet Joel says, “upon all flesh”. Through the work of Jesus Christ, in his life, death, resurrection and ascension, God’s Holy Spirit now abides with us in a new way!
