The secret to living an abundant life

At the Jordan river, it was the ark that went in first. The glory of God. Not the people.

At the city of Jericho, it was the ark that went before Israel around the city seven times. We think about the people, but it was the presence and glory of God leading the way.

At the city of Ai, Joshua fell before the ark, the presence and glory of God: “And what will you do for your great name?”  (Joshua 7:9)

It’s God’s glory that matters most to God’s people

Here, then, is the secret to living a fruitful, abundant life in Christ. Here, then, is the secret to leading a growing, thriving big people in Christ:

“I will not give my glory to another” (Isaiah 42:8)

God will not give His glory, the glory of His Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to any other.

When Joshua fell before the glory of the Lord, he did not cry out, “Oh God, and what will you do for my great name?” Nor did he exclaim, “And what will you do for Israel’s great name?” He cried out, ““And what will you do for your great name?”

Dear Elim Grace, if Jesus comes to us and says, “Elim Grace, I will do great and mighty things in your midst. More than you could possibly think, ask or imagine. But I will not give you the glory. I will give all my glory to Jesus. I will not make your name great. I will make great the name of Jesus. Are you ok with this?”

What will our answer be? What should our answer be?

“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory! Do all that is in your heart, but for the honor of your name alone! Exalt the name of Jesus above all name!”

Where God’s glory is sought and treasured, there God can dwell and do mighty works.
